North Town - 4Although Alec and I both acted as if Saturday never happened, and even though I'd made it plain that it didn't change anything, school on Monday was still really weird. And it was precisely the reason that nothing had changed that made it so strange. Alec continued to kick Kat out of her history seat. He kept up the smug smiles. North Town - 3I must have changed my outfit at least ten times. I even put on my only dress twice. I kept telling myself that it wasn't even that big a deal, but that didn't stop my increasing frustration or the manic way with which I was yanking clothes off their hangers. In the end I settled on my favourite pair of skinny jeans with black leather boots and my favourite red jumper. I added a little more kohl to my eyes and smeared a bit of mum's dark eye-shadow over my lids before I was satisfied I was suitably dressed for a concert. North Town - 2Music was my life. Before Kat came along, it was the only thing keeping me sane at school. Even as Camille and Becca would whisper about me as if I couldn't hear them, I would fall back on my safety net of music, sticking in my earphones, turning the volume up high to drown out their words. It didn't matter what kind of music I listened to. Sure, there were some things I loved, some things I hated. But until I became friends with Kat I wasn't picky.
